Great Barrier Reef activities aren’t just available during the daytime!
When planning a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, you will notice that there are heaps of tours operating during the daytime. Most tours out to the reef are day trips, but that’s not the only option. Did you know that you can enjoy the Great Barrier Reef at night?
Night diving
One of the most unique opportunities on the Great Barrier Reef is night diving. This nocturnal adventure is exactly as it sounds!
If you have gone diving during the day, you may be surprised to see a seemingly whole new world at night. There will be different sea creatures and a new perspective of the reef. In fact, there is a higher chance that you will be able to see some reef sharks, as they are more active when night falls.
If you’re up for the adventure, don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!
Wildlife spotting
You don’t have to get in the water at night to enjoy the reef. If you’re on a liveaboard tour, your sailing vessel will anchor in one spot for the night. As darkness falls, you will be able to spot fish and other creatures swimming in the waters surrounding the boat.
Stargazing
Because the Great Barrier Reef is a distance from the mainland, there is minimal light pollution. This means that you will be able to clearly see heaps of stars lighting up the night sky. From the various constellations to the Milky Way, you will be able to see it all shining bright above the Great Barrier Reef!
Great Barrier Reef liveaboard tour
If you’re ready to experience nighttime on the reef, join this 3 day Great Barrier Reef liveaboard!
The tour allows you to experience much more of the Great Barrier Reef over the course of three whole days. You will depart from Cairns and embark on your three day adventure. Each day includes different reefs, which are chosen on the day depending on the weather conditions. Once the sailing vessel drops its anchor, you’ll have plenty of time to explore each reef.
Whether you prefer to snorkel or dive, both options are available. Snorkelling equipment is included in the tour cost, but you can upgrade your ticket to include seven day dives. If you area certified diver, you will also be able to enjoy two night dives!
When you aren’t in the water, there are heaps of activities to enjoy aboard the sailing vessel. You will have all meals freshly prepared for you. You can relax on the sundeck and sip on a drink from the fully licensed bar. There is also a freshwater hot tub, where you can relax and admire the incredible ocean scenery.
Now you know that there are plenty of ways to enjoy the nightlife on the Great Barrier Reef. If you have a few days available, join a liveaboard tour to experience the reef at night and make unforgettable memories!
